Sylvia Smith
Sylvia SmithGardeningSylvia Smith 86 of Richwood, died peacefully in her home Friday afternoon June 19, 2015.

She was born May 4, 1927 in Morgan County, Kentucky to the late Manford and Mamie (Holbrook) Smith, she was also predeceased by brother: Dorsey Smith, sister: Lula May Smith, brothers in law: Rufus Smith and Donald Smith, sisters in law: Cloma Smith and Chloe Smith, step granddaughter: Ashley Campbell

On February 18, 1947 in West Liberty, Kentucky she married Robert H. Smith and he died September 22, 2008

Surviving is her daughter: Pat (Bill) Cheney of Richwood, grandsons: Keith (Christine) Cheney, Kent (Lindsay) Cheney, great grandchildren: Jovie Cheney, Landon Cheney and Kenedi Cheney, Step Great grandson: Josh Campbell
Sister: Remona Edwards of Brookville, brother: Charles (Barb) Smith of Fairborn
Sister in law: Sally (Joe) Kirkpatrick of Canton

Sylvia had worked at the former Livingston’s Store in Richwood and Spain’s Five and Dime. She was known for taking great pride in her beautiful home, inside and out, her flowers and holiday decorations were always done just right.

She loved attending all of her grandson’s activities, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs.

Public graveside services, with Tom Gwynn officiating will be held Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Claibourne Cemetery, in keeping with Sylvia’s wishes there will be no public calling hours.  

Memorial Gifts may be made to the Northen Union County Fire and EMS Assn at 602 N. Franklin St. Richwood, Ohio 43344

Your family has my deepest sympathy. She was a lovely woman and I enjoyed working with her at Richwood Flowers years ago.
