Eula Jean Davis
Eula Jean DavisEgg BasketEula Jean Davis, 87 of Richwood, died early Thursday morning November 6, 2014 at Marion Manor.  She was born February 5, 1927 in Marion County to the late William Thomas and Helen (Miller) Gulliford.  She was also predeceased by a sister, Clarinel Gulliford.

On October 23, 1949 she married Robert Davis at the Richwood First United Methodist Church, and he survives.  Also surviving are their children, Sue Byers of Akron; Ann Davis of Delaware; and Jason (Sue) Davis of Fresno, Ohio; two granddaughters, Yvonne (Richard Coteat) Mckee, Akron; Carolyn (Robert Buchanan) McKee, Uniontown; a grandson, Hayden Davis, Fresno; two great-granddaughters, Nora and Haley Buchanan, Uniontown.

Eula Jean was a very active member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church, from helping with funeral meals to volunteering for the regular Red Cross blood drive.  She was also active on her family farm, assuming the role of farmer just as eagerly as farm-wife, working right alongside her husband, Bob.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Among some other things that kept her busy in her younger days, she ran an egg route, delivering eggs to people around Richwood, and serving as an election official on the Union County Board of Elections.

An accomplished cook, Eula Jean was well-known for her chicken and noodles as well as her sugar cookies.  She was also a talented seamstress.  She and her husband Bob were avid sports fans for many years, following their children’s sporting activities at North Union and Buckeye Valley, as well as being huge supporters of the Ohio State University Lady Bucks.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 10, 2014 at 11:00 at the Richwood First United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood.

Memorial gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 18 S. Fulton Street, Richwood, OH  43344 or Marion General Hospital Hospice, 1000 McKinley Park Drive, Marion, OH  43302.

Deepest sympathies to Ann and your entire family.  I know your mom had been failing for some time.  You and your family have done a wonderful job caring for her and for your father!  Reading your mom's obituary paints a small picture of her life for those who don't know her.  What a long life she and your father have had together!  We didn't know her, but we can see the wonderful qualities she passed on to you, Ann.  Your work ethic and taking pride in your home, your love of gardening, your dedication to good health, and the life-long friendships you have.  Your mother's greatest accomplishment is see through you and your siblings.  We have both lost our mothers, so we know somewhat how you feel.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.
