It is with sad hearts we express condolences to Drew's family. Since hearing the news it has been on our minds and hearts and we have shared memories of him. The death of a loved one so young is devastating. We will strive to remember Drew with the smile in this picture. He was a quality boy and man.

It breaks my heart to hear of Drew's passing. It's been roughly 10 years since I had Drew in class at NU but I can remember him like it was yesterday. That is quite the compliment since I don't have the greatest memory. He was a very bright and personable student. I loved having him in class and the teacher-student relationship that we developed. His faith in God was evident in many class discussions and debates.

In the teaching profession we are constantly told to try to make a difference in a student's life. I can honestly say that in this case Drew made a difference in my life. He taught me at least as much as I taught him. I will never forget Drew. He's in my Wall of Fame.

Your family is in my prayers. May God give you strength during this very difficult time.

Words cannot express the sadness Keith and I feel at the news of Drew's passing. Our hearts go out to Mike, Laurie and family. I have fond memories of Drew as a little boy playing baseball with my sons. Then I had the pleasure of teaching him in middle school living skills. Drew was an outstanding student! He was always well-behaved and showed strong effort in class. We will be praying for all of you.

I met Drew through my daughter Brielle, they were classmates. I instantly liked this young man when I attended the trip to D.C. with the class of 2004. He later visited our home a couple of times. I found him to be funny and self assured. He was all the good things you ask for in a son.  I can not tell you how very sorry I am for your loss. There are no words. And knowing that this is a young man that leaves behind parents I can only say that I hope time will ease your pain as I know it will never truly leave your heart. Though I am no expert on life or death, I have experienced much grief and I am consoled by knowing that our spirit soars after death. You will have many questions that will never be answered in this life.  I wish for you and your family peace and understanding. How wonderful for you, his family to have been part of his earthly journey. God Bless you.

Dear Heavenly Father,
As our minds attempt to comprehend the unthinkable, we grasp for straws of understanding. As our hears ache with sorrow and heaviness, we droop from the weight of burdens. As our spirits argue with the dark meaningless of the world, we beg for the light only You can shed. And as our souls search for answers, we reach for your Divine hand of healing and comfort through the peace only You can provide. Amen.
Mike, Laurie, Brooke, Abby and family: we give our love and prayers.

I was just a boy when I met Caleb's friend Drew. I don't remember very many of the details, but at one of the "Halo Tournaments" held at my house Drew had playfully punched me and actually hurt me. Realizing what he had done i remember him apologizing and consoling me. That was not the last time he was there for me. Drew was a kind-hearted person. I will miss him, but i am glad to have had him in my life the few times we were together.

Dear Laurie and Mike,
I know it hurts beyond measure.  I remember trying to imagine the pain of a friend who had buried her child, but it wasn’t until I had to bury my own son that I realized it couldn’t be done… the imagination doesn’t go there.  There is no way through the pain, but through the pain.  My family and I are praying for you. Indeed, I will pray for you daily for a long, long time.  Tell me what I can do for you-whenever or whatever.  I will listen to you speak of Drew whenever you want to talk to someone who has an understanding and I will never tire of listening about your wonderful son.  And what a wonderful person he is! (Present tense intentional.  He is fine right where he is… walking on perfect turf grass with Christ the Creator!  Pure Bliss!  “I can only imagine.”)  I hadn’t seen him in years, but I remember him as a respectful, pleasant young man.  My children held him in the highest esteem.    ~Nejla (Caleb "Whitey's" Mom)

I want to let all of you know that you are in my prayers. Drew and I always had a great friendship, especially at the end of high school and early college years. I have many fond memories of him. He had a great heart and was always there when I needed him. Words cannot express the true sadness any of us feel. We all have to be strong in moments like these and look towards God for comfort and guidance (I know that is what Drew would tell me). Drew will be greatly missed.
