Mary Jane Ahmay |
Mary Jane Ahmay, 89 of Marion, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Marion Manor. She was born January 15, 1925 to George and Maude (Griffith) Thomas in Prospect.
She graduated from Prospect High School as valedictorian of her 1943 class. Following her graduation she went to work at Wright-Patterson Field in Dayton. While working, she met Leonard George Ahmay, who was stationed there. They were married on October 19, 1945. After moving back to Marion she worked at various occupations, but was primarily a homemaker.
Mary Jane was devoted to her late husband, Leonard, and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She helped establish the Grace Brethren Church where she remained a faithful member until she passed. She considered the church members her second family.
She is survived by her son, Marc (Susan) Ahmay, Prospect; a grandson, Kyle, Prospect; two granddaughters, Brandi (Jesse) Miller, LaRue; Meggan Ahmay, Merritt Island, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Hayze and Nash Miller, and Aden Cilley. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred Ahmay; a sister, Helen Hickman; and two brothers, Robert Thomas and Harold Thomas.
A memorial service will be held May 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the Grace Brethren Church with Pastor John Jones and Pastor Harry Simmons. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will have already taken place at Prospect Cemetery. Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marc, Susan and family,
Thinking of you and remembering a wonderful neighbor and friend to me and my children. Today she is in the arms of God whom she trusted so faithfully and at last, reunited with Leonard and Fred. I know she is peacefully at rest.

Dear Marc, Susan and family,
I was so sorry to read of Mary Jane's passing. She was a very special lady to me and my whole family. I am so happy that she and I were able to reconnect through letters over the past year. Please know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.
