Glen E. Schotte
Glen E. SchotteMeeker Sportsmans ClubGlen E. Schotte, age 80, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He passed away peacefully at Marion Manor where he had been a resident since September.

Mr. Schotte was born September 12, 1932. He was a lifelong farmer and loved tilling the land and raising crops. He also worked for many years for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and for the Marion Power Shovel. Additionally, he had assisted Big Island Township with road maintenance and snow removal.

He spent his entire life on the family farm, which was located between Meeker and Big Island. At different points in his life he was a avid hunter, enjoyed traveling, raced and owned horses with his father Clay, and built race cars with his brother Lloyd. He was also a supporter of and enjoyed the company of his friends and neighbors at the Meeker Sportsman’s Club. He was quite card player and enjoyed poker with friends and trips to Las Vegas and Havana, Cuba.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clay and Florence (Tong) Schotte of Big Island, brother Lloyd Schotte of Kenton, infant sister Donna Mae, toddler brother Bobby, brother-in-law Art Oldham of Meeker, and son-in-law Richard Garrison of Radnor.

He is survived by two sisters; Katherine Oldham of Meeker and Maxine Staiger (George)  of Linworth.

He is also survived by three daughters; Cheryl Casperson of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Karen Garrison Moffitt (Brad) of Radnor, and Amy Cooper (John) of Delaware. Nine Grandchildren; Mendi Annandono (Joe), Cindy Alward (Scott), and Tony Casperson, all of Pennsylvania. Drew Kirby (Laurie) of Prospect, Cameron Kirby and Colton Garrison of Radnor. Mikayla Cooper, Caleb Cooper, and Colby Cooper of Delaware. He also has 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday January 6, 2013 from 2 to 6 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Burial will be held at a later date at the LaRue Cemetery.

DEAR FAMILY BE GLADE YOU HAD GLEN AS LONG AS YOU HAVE. HE WAS A GREAT FRIEND AND   FATHER HE LOVE HIS CHILDREN VERY MUCH, EACH IN HIS OWN WAY.HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS AND WE WILL SURLEY MISS HIM.HE WAS MY FRIEND FOR 48 YEARS AND WE ALWAYS RESPECTED EACH OTHER AND AS HE WOULD SAY WE COULD SEE EYE TO EYE.
