Carolyn Kay (Matthews) Moser
Carolyn Kay (Matthews) MoserCrossCarolyn Kay (Matthews) Moser was born March 26th, 1938, in Delaware Ohio.  On June 22, 2012 she went to her eternal home in Heaven.  She was first married to Robert E. Smith of Waldo and they had two daughters together, Karen Ann and Robyn Lynne.  In 1998 she married George E. Moser of Prospect, Ohio.

Carolyn was a homemaker for many years as well as working at J.C. Penney.  In 1972 she began a 21-year career with General Telephone Company of Ohio.  She retired in 1993 to help care for her two granddaughters, Brittini & Erinn Littell.  In the 1980’s Carolyn turned her life over to Christ.  From that point until the end of her life on Earth she lived a Christ-centered life.  She was active in her church, Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran of Waldo.  She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, held offices on the Church Council and took to the pulpit to deliver the Sunday sermon.  She was a member and past President of the Prospect Senior Center and the Waldo Mother’s Club.

If someone was in need, no project was too large or too small for her to tackle.  At God’s urging she and her husband, George, once took on the renovation of a complete home that was in desperate need of repair.  With God’s help and many volunteers the project was completed.  Every fall she brought school supplies for local children and children overseas.  Each Christmas she purchased shoes, books, socks, and underwear for the Christmas Clearinghouse in Marion.  When Carolyn was 72 years old she became a Hospice Volunteer.  Carolyn had a talent for painting and writing.  She wrote numerous poems and short stories.  Her paintings graced the walls of her home.  Carolyn was devoted to her two granddaughters and delighted in helping them whenever she could.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Rose Matthews and a sister, Charlotte Mehaffey.  Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband George E. Moser.  Also surviving are daughters, Karen Smith, Prospect and Robyn (Jeff) Littell, Prospect; granddaughters, Brittini (Justin) Peterson and Erinn Littell; Ashlee (Chris) Drumm; Keri Littell; a stepson, Paul (Teri) Moser, Hubbard; step grandchildren, David, Daniel, and Melissa Moser, great grandchildren, Dylan, Madalyn, Mason Drumm and Preslee, Cashton Lowe; a brother, Robert (Sam) Matthews; a sister, Audrey (Tom) Moyer; nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends on Monday, June 25 from 4 to 8 PM at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 West Main Street in Waldo.  Burial will follow in the Waldo Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waldo, P. O. Box 162, Waldo, OH 43356.

Oh Carolyn, we had just begun to be friends. I shall remember the Sader Meal at St Paul's . That was the day you and George became for us a mentor. I saw in you the wonderful love of Christ. Your devotion first to the Lord and then your family is awesome. I shall miss your laugh and your smile and your concern and love of fellow man. But I am assured by God we will be together again. I know you do not have any more pain or bad health. Rest in the Lords arms. I will always here Christmas songs and listen to you singing in the Lords heavenly choir.
George - we just don't know what to say. You both were the epitome of a Christian couple. I know you hurt and I would gladly take your hurt from you. She was your soulmate. If there is anything we can for you let us know. May the Lord send his Angels to encamp around you as you and the family as you grieve. Amen

George and Family,

Although I only met Carolyn briefly I felt as I knew her through my parents Richard and Barbara. You all have my deepest sympathy at the loss of your loved one and such a tremendous person.

George, I never got the chance to meet you but Carol and I were good buddies.  I have been down in bed ill for several days and did not get word of her death until this morning.  I am so sorry I did not get to see her during her illness.  I tried several times but she had appointments, or I did.  I was having some surgery myself about that time.  You are in my prayers.  Nancy
