Mildred “Millie” Myers
Mildred “Millie” MyersCrucifixMildred “Millie” Myers, age 95 of Yoakum Road died unexpectedly Thursday, June 14, 2012 at her home.  She was born August 1, 1916 in Upper Sandusky to the late John and Mary (Wilmes) Loverich.

On October 11, 1938 she married John H. Myers in St. Peter's Church in Upper Sandusky and he died July 30, 1994.  She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings, Arthur Loverich, Bernard Loverich, Helen Myers and Robert Loverich, a son-in-law, Robert Blackman and two grandsons.

A devout Catholic, she was very active in every parish where she was a member.  She was an organist and sang in the choir at Saint Joseph's Parish, LaRue where she was a longtime member until it’s closing.  She was currently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton.  She crocheted many sweaters and made toys for her grandchildren.  To the delight of her large family, gardening and canning fruits and vegetables were her specialties.  Mildred and John instilled a strong faith and good work ethics in their 10 children. In a lifetime of farming, they worked side by side in planting and harvesting crops, and raising livestock for family use and for market.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Susan) Myers of Richmond Heights; Kathleen (Raymond) Shaw of Richwood; Virginia Blackman of Lewis Center; Patricia (Tom) Smith of Haines City, FL; Mark (Mary) Myers of Charlotte, NC; Greg (Myrtle) Myers of Canal Winchester; Thomas (Diana) Myers of LaRue; Julia (Michael) Toombs of Marion; Daniel (Dorothy) Myers of Richwood; Chris (Linda) Myers of Franklin, NC; 34 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Edith Loverich of Monon, Indiana and Helen Loverich of Upper Sandusky and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kenton with Rev. Anthony Dinovo officiating.  Private burial in Price Cemetery will take place later that day.  Friends may call on Monday, June 18 from 4 to 7 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, 201 S. Franklin Street, Richwood where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:00.

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your mother. My mom is 91. She sounds so much like your mom with all her gardening and canning skills. As those nuns who educated us would say God Be With You.

Both Millie and John as well as the family were a strong witness to me of our faith and hope in the Lord.  All were a good sign of the power of God's love.  I shall keep all in prayer.  May God bless us on the journey and grant peace to Millie and those who have completed the course.  Fr. Bill

Aunt Millie was always there for the Ochs family's events, both big and small. Some of the few events in my life I so vividly recall are the visits to The Myers' farm which imbued us city folk with a true sense of rural farm life, from the filmed accounts Millie helped me to recall for posterity yet to be completed, in the 1930's and 40's, and my own family's extended stay at the farm in the late 50's early 60's when underaged boys and girls could drive a pick-up truck back to the barn to visit John and kids while they finished the daily chores and amazingly hear a Detroit Tigers baseball game being played and broadcast on a radio sitting on a shelf surrounded by spider webs and the smells of a well worn farm life as the sun exited a late summer sky so far away from my home!  We may have spent only a night or two there, and my memories may have been romanticized  but the confluence of families at Millie's dinner table with fresh farm dairy, fruits, veggies  and rarely seen cousins and aunts and uncles will forever stay in  my recollections as one of those signature moments that remain selectively stamped in one's brain.  I am so sorry that I am unable to attend services for such an important part of my extended family. Please accept my condolences and may Millie enjoy an even fuller life in eternity than her mortal years on earth.

Our hearts are with you (Mark & Mary) as you gather together with family at the death of your mother.  We have fond memories of meeting your Mom at a Life in the Spirit Seminar that we helped with at LaRue's St. Joseph Parish when Fr. Joe Losh was there, and other events, which included a Jim Cowan Family Concert.  She was a sweet lady and we know you will miss her, as we do with our mothers, who are also with the Lord.  May the Holy Spirit of Comfort be with you and yours during this time of need, and as you comfort one another. God bless you all!  Our love and prayers are with you.
