Pauline Clement
Pauline ClementPauline Ruthella Clement, age 91, of Marion was called to be with the Lord on Saturday August 6, 2011 at 7:03 PM at the Green Hills Retirement Community in West Liberty, Ohio. Pauline fell at home on December 7, 2009 and broke he hip. Her niece had her moved to Green Hills so she could visit Pauline every day and help when needed.

She was born on February 7, 1920 to the late Phillip Clifton and Katherine Elizabeth (Temple) Johnson on the family farm near Mt. Victory in Dudley Township. She was  preceded in death by her sister Bernice C. Harmon, brother Richard H. Johnson Sr., a nephew Richard H. Johnson Jr. and brother in law George O. Harmon.

Pauline is survived by nephew Ronald L. Johnson of Dunkirk, a niece Carolyn A. Stokes of Bellefontaine and a sister in law Alice I. Johnson of Kenton.

She graduated from Mt. Victory Dudley High School and Sherwood Music School in Chicago, Ill. In Chicago she also acquired her pilots license.  Pauline married James Clement on August 13, 1943. Jim shipped out the first week of September 1943 and he was in the Night Fighter Squadron at Sardinia, and island off Italy and his plane went down on May 1, 1944. She never remarried because she thought that Jim might not be dead since the army didn’t find his body or plane.

Pauline worked at the Marion Depot then when it moved to Columbus, she drove from Marion for 36 years. Pauline helped many neighbors and friends and will be missed by many. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Marion.

Pauline’s family wishes to thank Pat Winter of Marion for being such a wonderful friend and neighbor. Thank you Pat for sending Pauline a get well card each week with an update of what was happening in the community.  This meant so much to Pauline.  We also wish to thank the St. Patrick Church for visiting Pauline.

There will be private graveside services at the LaRue Cemetery in LaRue, Ohio. Fr. Michael Nimocks will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue.

Those who wish may make contributions to either St. Mary Catholic Church in Marion or the Rhinehart Methodist Church in rural Mt. Victory.

I am truly sorry for the loss of such an exceptional lady.
I am a member of the Temple family who has done a lot of research on the family. My great grandmother, Anna, was a sister of Sarah Durr Temple. I would like very much to correspond with "cousins".  Sharon Lodge
