Beckie Jo Davis
Beckie Jo DavisBeckie Jo Davis, age 57 of Richwood died peacefully at home Tuesday morning, July 5, 2011.  She was born August 21, 1953 to the late Theodore "Ted" and Kathryn J. (Kirk) Miller.

On October 7, 1972 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Dean Davis and he survives in Richwood.

Beckie was involved with the music ministry at the Richwood Church of Christ and had played piano and organ since 1967.  She enjoyed playing for many weddings, and also enjoyed working with many pastors over the years.  She considered it a blessing to witness the baptism of many believers.

She was a member of Christian Harness Horse Association and Prayer Partners, enjoyed Ladies Bible Study and studying God's Word.  Beckie was a 4-H advisor for Richwood Mix and Stitch and helped with Richwood Livestock 4-H Club as well as volunteering with Richwood Fair fine arts building.  She helped with the family farm operation, raising 4-H club calves and standard bred horses.

She was past treasurer for REAP and was involved with her children's many school activities in the North Union School District.  She enjoyed her friends from Scooters to Scholars Mom's Club.

Beckie enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, silk flower arranging, particularly for weddings as a love gift, and loved to bake apple dumplings and cherry pie.  She and her husband, Dean enjoyed favorite vacation destinations to Maine and traveling to the Netherlands, visiting Holland, Belgium, Antwerp and Gent.  They enjoyed the family time on the farm with their children and grandchildren.

She had previously been employed by the Richwood Banking Company, and most recently was retired from Evans, Evans and Hoffman Attorneys at law.  She considered their clients her friends.

Beckie was blessed by many friends.  She never knew a stranger and loved to find out about the lives of those she met.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Brian (Jennifer) Davis; a daughter, Jodie Millard; her greatest blessing, her grandchildren, Hudson, Owen and Wyatt Davis; and Zachary and Morgan Millard, all of Richwood; her twin sister, Barb (Jeff) Swartz, Richwood, two brothers, Kirk (Crystal) Miller, Fairfax, Virginia and Jeffery (Roxane) Miller, Beverly Hills, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Richwood Church of Christ with Pastor Matthew Craig officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday at the Richwood Church of Christ.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Richwood Church of Christ Music Ministry, 29063 Sivey Road, Richwood, OH  43344

Dear Dean, Brian, and Jodie.
You have our deepest sympathy. Beckie was such a wonderful role model for both Brian and Jodie, as well as her grandchildren. My fondest memory of Beckie was her love for the Lord which was apparent in everything she did. I know all of us who knew Beckie will be mourning her loss with each of you, but there is a part of me that feels at peace knowing that both Kathryn and Ted were waiting right beside the Lord to welcome Beckie home. Know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks as each of you try to live your life without her by your side. If we can help in any way we are here for each of you.
                          Love,
                          Brad & Kathy

I remember Beckie back in the days of NU High School.  She was not just a nice person, but the real deal.  The word 'genuine' comes to mind.   Perhaps it was during my college years that I recall just stopping by her house.  I'm not sure why I did that since I really did not know her well at all.  She welcomed me into her home, and we sat and chatted there in her living room.   I do not recall the content of our conversation, but I do recall feeling completely comfortable and wonderfully accepted by Beckie.  That might have been the last time that I saw her.

I send my condolences and deepest sympathies to Beckie's family.

Dean, Barb, Jeff, & Kirk and families,
We are deeply saddened to hear of Beckie's passing. She was always so cheery and upbeat whenever I would see her at Jeff Evan's office. Her Christmas cards over the years were always so encouraging. I could tell that her faith was a most important part of her life. Even in my recent visit her strong faith was evident in the midst of this storm of life. We will all miss her here on earth, but I am sure she will be enjoying being involved in the music ministry in a much brighter, happier place free from all the worries of this life. Our prayers are with you all. Love, Jerry & Kathy Sauder

Dear Dean & family:

It was with a heavy heart I read of Beckie's passing. Such a wonderful human being and caring too.  I have at times had long conversations about her illness and mine and our wonderment about how they haven't found a cure yet. We have lost far too many beautiful young women to this disease.

May God wrap his loving arms around you and let you grieve and then find peace.

We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

My favorite memory was going over to Aunt Kathryn's house in the summer and getting to hang out with the older cousins Becky and Barb and listen to them talk about teenager stuff and they would paint my nails and make me feel older!
And if I was good and didn't bug them too bad I could ride into town with them.
Becky I pray that if a day comes that I have to face the disease that you did that you will be the wind beneath my wings and give me the strength and courage that you had to get through it! Now go sit in Heaven and be our Guardian Angel I will be watching for you. I love you, and I will see you on the other side!

Dean & Family:
Beckie was a true treasure & gift God gave us on earth. She had a light that she shared with the world. In my conversations with her, she knew the cancer was a journey for her to go on. She knew God would be with her all of the way and the journey she was taking she wouldn't take alone.  She was calm & at peace because of her great faith. I pray you find comfort and peace knowing Beckie's love for God and she has been received in His arms.  Our hearts are aching because we have lost a beautiful spirit on this earth and because she meant alot to so many.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember, when I was a freshman in high school when you spoke to me across the lunch room table.

I was fortunate to be friends with someone who's brother dated one of your classmates at that table. That's how we got to set there. You sat directly across from me. I could hardly look up; a "lowly" Freshman setting at a "Seniors" table setting across from a senior "GIRL". Talk about intimidation...
But that all changed when YOU spoke to me.I could hardly talk, but you continued to ask me questions until I felt comfortable. And from that day forward I had that, "school boy" crush.
To think, I sat with "seniors", and they were "girls", and it was YOU who accepted me. Because of you, I said to myself, "when I'm a senior I'm going to be a friend to freshman" not a hater. I graduated in 1974, and I guarantee there are some 1978 graduates that would thank YOU, for my behavior toward them. I'm sorry, as an adult, I didn't get to reconnect with you to tell you this; but I do so now. Thank you for being so kind, sweet and caring, to just one lowly freshman. I'm sure there were many, many more people you touched, as you touched me. God gave you as a blessing!!!

Dean and family:
I pray that God will give you strength, healing and encouragement...

Chaplain at The Meadows Race Track
Mon, Jul 25, 2011 at 4:53 PM

Here at The Meadows and especially at our Track Chapel we have continued to keep Dean and all the family in our prayers.  Beckie Jo was a woman with a love for God and a love for people.  The two most important commandments of all are to love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love others like yourself.  My wife Marcy also has a heart like Beckie Jo's and I am thankful they finally got to meet during a visit we had with Beckie at the Ohio State Medical Facility.  It was a blessing for me to finally meet Beckie Jo too.  Dean and I have always bragged about our spouses and wanted to get together and take them to dinner.  We never had that dinner date but enjoyed getting together in that hospital room.  We finally got to pray in person for the lady that we had been keeping in prayer for quite sometime.  Prayer is something Beckie Jo and I have had in common for a number of years.  We had prayed one for another many times over the phone for many different reasons.  Dean and Beckie Jo have supported our ministry at The Meadows for years and the thank you notes back and forth turned into phone calls.  The many times of communicating with each other finally turned into meeting each other just a couple weeks before her death.  The first two months of this year I went through the toughest ordeal of my life and Beckie Jo, despite her condition, was concerned about me and lifting me up to the Lord in prayer.  She continued to interceed for others while still trusting God for her healing.  Beckie Jo has now received that ultimate healing.  She is no longer in pain, and will never again experience grief or shed a tear. Those things are behind her forever.  It is Dean and family we interceed for now.  May the comfort, peace, and love of God surround you!
