Donald Eugene “Donnie” Wood

Donald Eugene “Donnie” Wood, 60, of Ft. Myers, FL Winter home, Mt. Gilead, Ohio, summer home, passed away January 17, 2010, at his home in Ft. Myers, after a brave battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Merle and Goldie Wood, Richwood, Ohio. He is survived by his Loving wife, Denise of 37 years; and daughter, Jennifer of Mt. Gilead; he has a daughter, Melissa from a previous marriage. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Prospect. He was the youngest of seven children, two brothers, Lester (Bill) of Prospect, and Charles of Lake Okeechobee FL. Four sisters, Ruth Gray and Thelma Fields of Richwood, Ohio, Margaret Ann Haney and Mary Lou Ferguson preceded him in death. He has many nieces & nephews. Don was the former founder and owner of Mid-State Roofing Inc. of Prospect. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He was a very caring person. Loved spending time with family and friends. He was especially proud of his daughter, Jennifer for all her accomplishments. A special thank you to our friends and family for all their help and prayers at his time of need. A memorial service will be held at The Groves Resort in Ft. Myers, FL, January 20th, at 1 p.m. In keeping with his wishes, Don's ashes will be spread along the shores of Sanibel Island, FL. There will be no services in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). I've known Donnie since we were both just kids, he was a good man.
