William Joseph “Bill” Jerew
William Joseph “Bill” JerewFlagWilliam Joseph “Bill” Jerew, age 83 of Richwood, died Thursday morning, January 14, 2010 at the Gables at Green Pastures in Marysville.  He was born October 31, 1926 in Richwood to the late William S. and Martha Dell (Douglas) Jerew.

On September 21, 1946 he married the former Grace Dempster in Greenup, Kentucky and she survives in Richwood.

He had worked for Whirlpool as a press operator for 35 years, retiring in 1991.  He was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ and a graduate of Green Camp High School.  A WWII Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 40, Richwood Gun & Game Club and an active and very dedicated member of the Northern Union County Fire & EMS Department since 1953.  Bill enjoyed taking fishing and camping trips to Canada.  He was a quiet and unassuming man who loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace Jerew, two daughters, Debbie K. (Dave) Pacha, Richwood; Joni E. (Gregg) Pitts, Jackson Center; two brothers, Kenneth Jerew, Byhalia; Jerry (Delores) Jerew, Green Camp; a sister, Patty Basinger, Kenton, Grandchildren, Lauri (Will) Wilson, Tabbi (Terry) Thompson, Matt (Wendi) Preston, Bill (Nancy Greer) Preston; a step-grandchild, Chas (Kris) Nicholl; great-grandchildren, Sammy Rhodeback, Jordyn Rhodeback, Tony Thompson, Trent Thompson, Megan Preston, Olivia Preston; step-great-grandchildren; Blaine, Dillon, Carlie Wilson; Austin, Shelby, Landon Nicholl; sisters-in-law, Shirley Jerew, Richwood; Nita (Harold) Neel, Prospect; Pauline Dear, Marion; Ann Gorely, Marion; Frieda Hutchinson, Marion; Janet Dempster, Mt. Gilead; brothers-in-law, William (Ida) Dempster, Mt. Gilead; George (Joyce) Dempster, Marion; Lester (Candy) Dempster, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by two infant sons, John J. and Randall W. Jerew; two brothers, Robert and Marion Jerew; two sisters, Maxine Jerew Woods and Hazel Jerew.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 5:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Matt Craig officiating.  Friends may call from 2 to 5 that day.  Military honors will be provided by the Richwood Area Veterans and a tribute will be given by Northern Union County Fire and EMS Service.

Memorial gifts may be made to American Legion, Richwood, Richwood Gun and Game Club, or Northern Union County Fire & EMS Service.
