Yvonne Chapman
Yvonne ChapmanNUWildcatPawYvonne Chapman, age 72 of Richwood died late Tuesday evening, October 13, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born November 29, 1936 in Richwood to the late Jay and Mary Margaret (Sedgwick) Marvin.

On March 31, 1957 she married Bernard Sam Chapman in the Central United Methodist Church and he survives.

She was an executive secretary at the O. M. Scotts Company for 45 years and was a member of the 20 year club.  She was active in the United Methodist Women and was a member of the former Central United Methodist Church, now Rush Creek United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the White Lilly Temple Pythian Sisters in Waldo.  A 1955 graduate of Richwood High School, Yvonne was an avid North Union Wildcat sports fan, and could be found with her husband, Sam at many North Union sporting events.  One could not go to a Wildcat game without seeing both of them there.  She had a feisty spirit and rooted her grandkids on whenever they played.  She and Sam have been active with REAP, helping provide food for the needy for the past 18 years.

She is survived by her husband, Sam, Richwood; two daughters, Marsha (Bruce) Davis, Richwood and their children, Alison (Nick) Blakeley, Emily Davis and Timothy Davis; Lisa (Scott) McNamee, Richwood and their children Jennifer (Kyle) Jones and Grant McNamee; son, Tony (Joanie) Chapman, Ashland and their children, Elizabeth, Amber and Jonathon Chapman; and a great-grandson, Nathan Jones.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Jay Marvin and a sister, Patsy Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Bill Snyder officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Friday.

Uncle Sam and Family,

Dad and Donna called.  So sad Aunt Yvonne had to leave us all so early in life. She was very special to me (all of us) as you are too!  She always made me feel special and it was so wonderful that she would come over to chat with Mom keeping her up to date on what was happening with family and friends.  She will be missed in so many ways!   GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Much love,
Sandra

I deeply loved Yvonne because I, often times, talked to her more times than my father when he worked at Scotts.  She was a feisty person who I got to know, in a unique way.
Whenever I went home sick from school, which by the way was often (because who really likes high school) , it was Yvonne who would pick me up and I thought of her as part of my family.
I am so saddened by the news and give my deepest condolences to Sam and her family.
Love you Yvonne

I considered Yvonne a good friend and a great gal.We socialized with her and Sam over the years and I rode to work with her for many years and we had many good laughs together. You never had to wonder what Yvonne was thinking. She would let you know without hesitating. You would never find a more devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Lord have mercy on the person that messed with her kids or grandkids . I know she will be missed and our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Mike and Karen Thompson

Dear Family -
I am so sorry that I can't be there for the funeral with all of you for my favorite Chapman aunt.  I am so glad that Terry and I got to spend time with Yvonne last Saturday and to have many laughs.  She always was a "spark" to the party and you always knew when she was there.  God will surely have his hands full now.

We send our sincere sympathy to you all.
Richwood has lost a wonderful lady in Yvonne.
Going to ball games won’t be the same not seeing her sitting  in the gym cheering on the kid’s and yes on occasion giving the refs a little heck for missing a good game.
Yvonne wasn’t bashful about telling you how she felt about things and I loved and very much respected that about her.
Over the past 6 years there was never a time she didn’t ask how Paula and the girls were doing as we go through our battle with cancer.
She was a very loving and caring lady.
Please know you all will be in our prayers. May the peace of God which surpasses all else surround you all at this very difficult time.
In Christ Love,
Jeff,Paula,Samantha, and Stephanie
