Golda Kate Cochran

Golda Kate Cochran, age 94 of LaRue, died Saturday Morning April 4, 2009 at Heartland of Marion.  She was born Nov. 13, 1914 in Normantown, West Virginia to the late Brooks Bentley and Rebecca Bernice (James) Bond. She was a member of LaRue Baptist Church, and loved making beautiful quilts.  Although she had no children of her own, she loved babysitting and being with children. On December 22, 1945 she married Lester Gilbert Cochran and he died November 14, 2000 after 55 years of marriage.  She is survived by two nieces, Becky Felty, LaRue; and Golda Howell, Palestine, Texas and numerous other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 2:30 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, LaRue with Rev. Tim Pasma officiating.  Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday. Memorial gifts may be made to the LaRue Baptist Church. Condolences       to #1 from: Heartland of Marion Marion Mon, Apr 6, 2009 at 5:38 PM Golda was one of the first patients at Heartland Of Marion on the 100 hall she became one of my favorites right away. She then was moved to Arcadia where I soon there after started to work. She always made me smile and gave me a kiss and it always made me know I was in the right line of work. I will miss "Golda Kate" as I called her, and I will never forget her and the many stories we shared.
