Robert E. Everett
Robert E. EverettRobert E. Everett, age 89, of rural New Bloomington, died Sunday August 17, 2008 at 7:25 AM at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.  
He was born March 10, 1919 in New Bloomington in the home where he lived all his life, to the late John George and Dora Mae (Locker) Everett.  On March 2, 1941 he married Gertrude E. Krock and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Beverly Chapman (William) Roby of McCutchenville, Ohio and Nancy (Tom) Hafer of LaRue. Grandchildren; Heather E. (Doug) Treadaway, Jason (Karen) Chapman, Robert J. Hafer and Katelynn R. Hafer. Great Grandchildren; Dustin, Tyler and Alexis Johnson and Cody E. Chapman. One sister; Inez Goken of LaRue.  
He is preceded in death by two sons; John E. Everett and Kenneth R. Everett, three sisters; Eva Drake, Irma McNeil-Bending, Velda Sloat and one brother Ivan Everett.
Mr. Everett was a farmer all his life, also a life member of the New Bloomington United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School, was the Treasurer and held many other offices. Active member of the Marionaires.  The family farm was awarded the Century Farm award by the Governor of Ohio in 2004 having been farmed for 119 years.  He served as President of the Ohio Poland China Breeders Assn for several years and also as director for the National Poland China Record Assn.  The Ohio State Fair also honored him for showing breeding stock at the Fair for over 50 years. He was inducted into the Ohio State Fair Agricultural Swine Hall of Fame in 1990, for “significant contribution to Ohio State Fair.” Robert was a member of the local school board (New Bloomington and Elgin Schools) from 1958-1972. He was the first president of the newly consolidated school district of the Villages of  LaRue, New Bloomington, Green Camp and Prospect.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday August 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the New Bloomington United Methodist Church.  Ministers will be the Rev. Christopher Wiseman and Rev. Mary Curtis.  Burial in the LaRue Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and before the service at the Church.
Those who wish may make contributions to either the New Bloomington United Methodist Church or the Fairhaven Community.

They were such a big help to us when we moved in just down the road.

Our friendship with Robert goes back to Agosta School.  Then during the early Elgin days, our children in High School.  Robert picking up Don on Tuesdays for Marionaires. And Robert and Gertrude were always faithful Election Day voters.  Our love and prayers to you and all your family.
