Terry Gibson
Terry GibsonTerry Lee Gibson, 46 of LaRue, died Friday evening, July 18, 2008 in Toledo from injuries sustained in a racing accident.  He was born March 24, 1962 in Kenton to Todd and Brenda (Cramer) Gibson and they both survive in Richwood.

He was a 1980 graduate of North Union High School where he played football.  He was the owner and operator of Red Roof Automotive in LaRue for almost 5 years and had previously worked at Parker Hanifan.  He was a 12-year member of LaRue Baptist Church.  Being a member of the Gibson family, racing was in his blood.  He was always a joy to be around, and whether he was at the race track, the automotive shop or playing ball with his kids, he was loved and respected.  Above all he was an honest and generous man who didn’t hesitate to help those in need.

On February 21, 1997 he married Linda L. Jones and she survives in LaRue.  He is also survived by a son, Ryan W. Gibson; a daughter, Lindsay N. Kincaid; three brothers, Gene Lee (Lucinda) Gibson, Sandusky; Jeff (Shannon) Gibson, Prospect; Larry (Lisa) Gibson, Marysville; and a sister, Deb (Randy McElroy) Brady, Richwood.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the LaRue Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Pasma officiating.  Burial will follow in LaRue Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Wright Patterson Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood.

Memorial gifts may be made to Missions, C/O LaRue Baptist Church, P. O. Box, 374, LaRue, OH  43332 or his son Ryan’s college fund, C/O The Richwood Banking Company.

Condolences and remembrances may be expressed at www.stofcheck-ballingerfuneralhome.com

To the entire Gibson family, my condolences. I will always remember Terry as a friend and neighbor and just one of the neighborhood gang raising hell and causing our parents premature gray hair. Whether in the sandbox, the flooded ditches, football in the front yard or hide and seek late at night those are the memories I will always have with me. My deepest sympathies are with you.

I am William Mounts stepdaughter, Carol. Terry and I went to elementary school together in Richwood. Terry was my first "Crush". Although I don't think he knew I exsisted,  no contact was keep over the years, but I knew from my dad, Bill how the boys were doing in thier racing careers. I remember him as being sweet and somewhat shy. I can see by his picture and his obituary that he grew up into quite a man. I'm not surprised. To all the Gibson family- losing someone is never easy-I know, but stand still and let God be God, take the help that is offered-but we never think we deserve,and take care of each other. I know he will be sadly missed. I am so sorry for you loss.

I rode for years on Brenda's bus and was a classmate of Gene's (NU Class of 1976). Our old football coach, David Camp, told me about Terry's accident yesterday. It grieved me to know that Terry's racing passion led to this when it has been (and hopefully will continue to be) such a delight for the family and racing fans everywhere. May the Lord comfort you and draw you close to Him.

Hello, I am Eddie's ex wife.  I would like to offer my deepest condolence to the Gibson Family!  I am so very sorry for this horrific event.  I have alot of memories going racing with Terry and some of his family members. one  thing that sticks in my mind is one of the songs he once listened to on the way to the track, T-N-T,  that was a ritual for him at that time. I  know that he will be sadly missed.  Please know that God is with you in your time of need,  he will be your strength when you are the weakest and will be with you to heal your loss. The Gibson family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers.  Terry will be greatly missed by all the people in which their lives he touched! God Speed Terry!

I'm very sorry to hear about Terry.  He worked on my truck for as long as I had it.  There was always something wrong with it. I would just call Terry and he would say come in.  I would always bring my dog with me and he would wonder around the shop.  Just last week my dog died.  It's been really hard on me because he was like my son.  Anyway he always fixed my truck too.  Linda,you probaly don't know me but a few years ago you and your daughter bought my apaloosa horse named Liza.  You might rememer me now.  I lived on Patterson Road.  Anyway I'm very sorry and you have all of my sympathy.

I had not seen Terry in many years but remember the great times we had from the time we met as kids at Oswego watching Todd in the late 60's and growing up in the racing world together.
Terry had that twinkle in his eyes and smile to go with it that is vivid in my mind and will stay with me forever.
Terry I am praying for you and your family.
The Gibson's were always one of Supermodifieds first family and alway's will be.

In the battle that goes on through life
I ask but a field that is fair,
A chance that is equal with all in the strife,
A courage to strive and to dare;

And if should win, let it be by the code
With my faith and my honor held high;
And if I should lose, let me stand by the road,
And cheer as the winners go by.

And Lord, may my shouts be ungrudging and clear,
A tribute that comes from the heart,
And let me not cherish a snarl or a sneer
Or play any sniveling part;

Let me say, "There they ride, on whom laurel's bestowed
Since they played the game better than I."
Let me stand with a smile by the side of the road,
And cheer as the winners go by.

So grant me to conquer, if conquer I can,
By proving my worth in the fray,
But teach me to lose like a regular man,
And not like a craven, I pray;

Let me take off my hat to the warriors who strode
To victory splendid and high,
Yea, teach me to stand by the side of the road
And cheer as the winners go by.

Rest in peace friend.

Please know that our hearts and prayers are with the entire Gibson family during this time,amd his friend and ours, Mark.  I am writing this condolence especially for my husband, John, who knew Terry personally.  There will be many stories to tell, some so funny, for years to come.  Good memories and good times say to much for such a special person. Terry was also special to us because he sponsored a trophy for our annual car show for our deceased grandson, Danny Garza.  Danny was killed August 10, 2003 also in a car accident just two months after graduation. We will always be grateful and remember Terry in a very special way. May God Bless You All, John and Donna Frye

We did not know terry or his family personally.we were just a couple of english hobby racers on a 2 week race watching expedition to your wonderful usa..who popped into toledo speedway to see the awesome supermodifieds for the first time ever.
God give terry's family and friends courage at this time; as god gave terry courage every time he stepped out onto the racetrack.
Its clear terry touched many people in his life and we'll all hold onto those good memories forever.
We also witnessed zachs awesome drive at columbus speedway on saturday a special tribute of spirit and bravery.second in the race but first in our hearts..but thats racing there are always winners and losers
The race goes on in this life and the after life.

Truly sorry to hear about the loss of a son, husband, father, brother.  We worked with Terry at Parker.  We found out Wednesday, too late to come to Richwood.
I have memories of Terry racing every weekend, no working on Saturdays for him.  I took my son to Attica once to watch the sprint car races.
His family is in our prayers at this time of sorrow.

My favorite memory of Terry....Every morning I would have to drive through La Rue from dropping Kevin off at school and I would inevitably get caught at the stoplight in front of his store. If it was warm enough for my window to be down I'd hear his voice bellow from within his building...."Get to work!!!"  Thinking every day of Terry's family members. Prayers to you all are being spoken every day.
