Betty Jane Almendinger
Betty Jane AlmendingerEuchreBetty Jane Almendinger, 87, of Prospect, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, July 12, 2008.  She was born March 8, 1921 in Mt. Victory to the late Dana Harrison and Ethel Mae (Hennis) Cameron.

On July 1, 1938 she married Clifford Harold Almendinger and he died August 29, 1980.

She was a homemaker who had once worked at Ranco.  Betty was an active member Prospect United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school.  She was actively involved in Prospect Senior Citizens, where she loved to play euchre.  She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles.

She is survived by a son, Robert Lee (Jan) Almendinger, Concord, NC; a daughter, Mary Ann Emmons, LaRue; former son-in-law, Keith Emmons, LaRue; Grandchildren, Julie, Travis, Penni; step-granddaughter, Aimee (Larry); a brother, Howard (Doris) Cameron, Plain City; two sisters, Lamont Johnston, Grove Port; Annabelle Cameron, Prospect and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Prospect United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra Ketcham officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.

Was saddened at reading about the loss of Betty. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Betty was always a very pleasant person and I know she will be missed by all her family.

Our sympathy to Betty's family.  We didn't know Betty until we joined the Prospect Senior Center about five years ago.  It was fun to play cards with her and we enjoyed her friendship.
