Joie Margaret Bevis

Joie Margaret Bevis, 85, formerly of Richwood, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Community Healthcare Center in Marion. She was born December 1, 1922 in Richwood to the late Zell and Ruth (Stickel) Borland.

On May 10, 1942 she married Joe Bevis in Greenup, KY and he died May 19, 1994.

She was a member of Fulton Creek Friends Church and the Ladies Missionary Group. A published poet, she enjoyed writing poetry and painting off and on her whole life. She loved to cook, especially for her nieces and nephews, and she loved her cats.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Borland, Richwood; several nephews and nieces and a special friend, Betty Pierce.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Joe Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Creek Friends Church or the Salvation Army or charity of donor’s choice.

We lived next to Joie and Joe for years and remember lots of good times,we are so sorry she is gone.

I will always remember Joie for the best homemade chicken and noodles that she brought to our Bevis Reunion. She always had a smile on her face.
