J. Parker Garwick II
J. Parker Garwick II J. Parker Garwick II, age 75 of Berlin and Richwood, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Aultman Hospital in Canton due to a ruptured aortic aneurysm.  He was born March 4, 1932 in Plattsburg, NY to the late J. Parker and Lillian (Paul) Garwick.

He was a 1950 graduate of the Upper Arlington High School.  Among his numerous occupations, he had been a heavy equipment operator for the family business, Garwick and Ross General Contractors in Columbus.  He had worked for Paul Grose selling agricultural equipment, and sold autos for Hardin Motors in Mt. Victory.  He enjoyed his involvement with the Amish community, providing transportation for many families.  His passion was engines and anything that had an engine, being involved with several organizations, including being a charter member of the Buckeye Valley Sports Car Club of America, a member of the Ohio Morgan Car Owners Group, a lifetime member of Harley Owners Group, and former board member of the Darke County Steam Engine Association.  He also loved eating out at fine local establishments.

He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, York Center, and a former member of the First Community Church in Upper Arlington.  He had attended the Richwood First United Methodist Church and was currently attending the Berlin Mennonite Church.  He had served on the Richwood Fair Board for 13 years and was a member of the former Richwood Lions Club.

On June 27, 1981, he married Susan K. Schrader at the family farm in Richwood.  She survives in Berlin.  Also surviving are two daughters, Victoria (Greg) Clay, New Washington, OH; Bethany (Juan) Flores, Temple Terrace, FL; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Clay; Rachel Clay; Michael Clay; Alexander Parker Jose Flores; and one great-grandchild, Mason Clay.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Olivia Flores and two brothers, Michael and Robert Garwick.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Community United Methodist Church, in York Center at the intersection of State Routes 47 and 739 with Pastor James Wise officiating.  Friends may call Friday from 3 to 8 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, 201 S. Franklin St., Richwood.  Then, memorial services will be held Monday, October 22, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Berlin Mennonite Church, 4718 US Rt. 62 E., Berlin, Ohio with Pastor Ernie Hershberger officiating.  Private burial will take place in the Berlin Twp. Cemetery.

    Lisa & I are so saddened to hear of Parker's passing.  We so much enjoyed working with him & yourself on the Heifer effort.  I also remember a trip or two my father took with Parker after dad had retired.  He enjoyed Parker's company.  Please know our prayer's are with you.

Our hearts and prayers are with you.  I truly adored Parker, he just had such a good,warm and kind spirit!  He will be sadly missed!!  You and Parker were one of my favorite customers at the Plaza!! Can you believe it has beeen over 20 years??  Each time I saw Parker, no matter how much time had passed, he remembered my name.

I was so sorry to read that Parker had died..I am from his high school graduating class, and we will miss him...it was always such a pleasure to see him at all our class reunions, and he certainly added to the fun of the occasion.  Caroyn

I hope you remember me.  I am Joy Taylor's brother-in-law and I was your Morton Building Salesman.  I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Parker.  He was truly a good man and friend.  I remember him as a man of knowledge of many things.  He thought you to be special I am sure as well.  You have my wife Linda, my mother Lillian and myself's deepest sympathy and sorrow.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Parker’s passing.  Your successful marriage of 26 years and the strength you gave him were sources of great comfort for him, I’m sure.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss and adjustment to your new location.  I’m still in Columbus (traveling to Kenton now to help my 90 year old Uncle John transfer to Blanchard House and sell his house) and would like to keep in touch.

I went all the way from first grade  to graduation with Parker.  Our parents were friends.  I am so sorry for your loss.  He was a genuinly nice person.  I always enjoyed seeing him at our UAHS reunions and we will all miss him.

I am so sorry to hear about Parker. What a guy!! Although I hadn't seen him in a while, I will always remember his quick wit, his laugh, and that warm smile he had. He was positively one of my favorite customers and you still are. I know your strong faith will help you get through the sadness of this tme.God Bless you, please let me know how you're doing.

Suzie and family want to express my sympathy of the death of Parker. Knowing first hand of losing a spouse we just have to realize that God has a plan and only he knows why one is taken from us.  God Bless
