Robert E. "Bob" Hayes
AirForce Robert E. “Bob” Hayes, 58, of Marion passed away Monday, Aug. 28, 2006 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus where he was being treated for injuries sustained in a fall.

He was born Sept. 4, 1947 in Charleston, WV.  He was the son of Kensil and Carolyn (Barnett) Hayes of Prospect.

Bob graduated from Elgin High School in 1965.  He served 14 years with the U. S. Air Force, including two years in Vietnam.  He worked as a prison guard in Ohio and Arizona after serving in the Air Force.  He was a member of the former Zion United Church of Christ.

Besides his parents, he is survived by daughter Gina (Stan) Boyd of Morrison, TN and Tina (Jay) Overton of Murfreesboro, TN, four grandchildren:  Kristyne and Jalen Boyd and T’Anna and C. J. Overton, a brother, Jerry Hayes of Prospect and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He is also survived by two special life-long friends, Pat Beckett and Nanci Anderegg.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 2 at the funeral home with the Rev. David Hoffman officiating.  Burial will be in the Prospect Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to Project Faith of the Prospect United Methodist Church.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.ballingerfuneralhome.com.
