Elma Agnes Tanner

Former owner of the Villa Hotel and Restaurant, Elma Agnes Tanner, 90, died Wednesday, Oct, 8, 1997 at Marion Manor. The former Richwood resident had been in failing health for several years. She was a member of Community United Calvary Church and the Richwood VKW Auxiliary. A native of Springfield, she was born May 11, 1907, a daughter of the late Elmer and Myrtle Wycoff Doss. Her husband, John Tanner, whom she married in 1924, preceded her in death in 1960. Surviving are a niece and two nephews. Nine brothers and five sisters are deceased. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Claibourne Cemetery with Rev. Fred Cheney officiating. Ballinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Community United Calvary Church.
