Billy J. Davenport
FlagBilly J. Davenport, 67, of Prospect died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at his
home after having been in failing health for a year.
He was employed by the Prospect Farmers Exchange for 28 years and was
a member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church, Verne I. Mounts American
Legion Post 368 and VFW Post 7201 in Marion.
He was born Jan. 26; 1931, in Buchtel to the late Addison and Margaret
Smathers Davenport and was predeceased by four brothers, Robert Raymond,
John and Ernest Davenport.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Milligan, whom he married April 21, 1957 in
Prospect; two sons, Billy J. Davenport Jr. of Ashley and Randy (Dixie) Devenport of Prospect; two daughters, Vera (Keith) Becker and
Brenda Davenport of Prospect; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildrenand
a sister, Ruby Kasler of Nelsonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gehm-Ballinger
Funeral Home m Prospect. The Rev. David Carlyle will officiate and burial
will be at the Prospect Cemetery where military services will be conducted
by the United Veterans Council. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 o m
today.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Marion General Hospital
or the American Cancer Society.
