Robert Lee Carr Sr.
Robert Lee Carr Sr., 63, of Prospect died at Marion General Hospital Sunday,
March 1, 1998, after struggling six years with the effects of a stroke.
He owned and operated the former Standard Oil station in Prospect and
was employed by the Abbott Company in Prospect for 15 years. He was a
1953 graduate of Prospect High School and was a member of Peace United
church of Christ in Waldo.
He was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Richwood to the late Glen and Ophal Teets
Carr and was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee "Rob" Carr Jr. in 1981
and two brothers, Richard Carr and William E. Carr.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ann Barnett Carr, whom he married June
4, 1957; a daughter, Lori Ann (Darrell Jr.) McCoy of Caledonia; three grandchildren.
Travis Carr of Marion and Chelsea and Sidney McCoy of Caledonia:
two sisters, Kathryn Lauer of Prospect and Marilyn Smith of Caledonia:
two brothers. Ron A. (Janet) Carr of Prospect and Paul (Anita) A. Carr of
Bucyrus; a daughter-in-law, Gail Harrison Carr Bentley of Marion; many
nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Cecil and Vera Oehler, Edwin and
Kay Harsh and James and Margaret Swihart.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gehm-Baliinser
Funeral Home in Prospect. The Rev. Paul Dionne will officiate and burial
will be at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p m today
Pall bearers will be Paul Carr, Ronald Carr, LeRoy Carr, Butch Lauer,
Kenny Smith, Jerry Hayes, Michael Barnett and Doug Bamett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Battle Run Fire Department
and EMS or Peace United Church of Christ in Waldo.
