Rachel I. Russell
EasternStarRachel I. Russell, 84, of Columbus, formerly of Richwood and Mount Victory,
died Wednesday, Sept. 22,1999, at St. Angela Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center after a lengthy illness.
She was a 1933 graduate of Richwood High School. She was a licensed
practical nurse and was retired from Grant Hospital. She was an active member
of North Baptist Church in Columbus and the Ann Judson Women's Circle.
She was a former member of Mother's Club CCL and Mount Carmel
Chapter 42 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was born June 11, 1915, in Union County to the late Harry and Anna
Guy ton Temple and was predeceased by a son, William "Billy" Russell and
a brother, Don Temple. She married William "Bill" Russell June 23, 1933,
and he died March 28, 1999. They had celebrated their 65th wedding
anniversary in June 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Bill) Baker of Grove City; a son,
Stephen (Debbra) Russell of Columbus; six grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren:
a daughter-in-law, Barbara Russell of Norwalk; and a brother,
William (Dorothy) Temple.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ballinger Funeral
Home in Richwood. The Revs. Owen Stewart and Barb Stevens will officiate
and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:30 until
the time of the service Saturday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the North Baptist Church Memorial
Fund, 76, Charleston Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43214 or Mount Carmel
Hospice, 1144 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Cards will be available
at the funeral home.
Pall bearers will be Scott Baker, Brian Baker, Devin Russell, Greg Russell,
Pete Davis and William H. Temple III. Honorary pall bearers will be Bob and
Marilyn Yost, Bob and Ruby Fox, Harold and Ruth Hickman and Grafton
and Kathryn Black.
