Robert O. McFarlan
Robert O. McFarlan, 74, of Prospect died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Marion
General Hospital.
He was a 1942 graduate of Cadiz High School and received his bachelor
ot science degree from Wooster College in 1945 and his master of arts degree
from The Ohio State University. He was a high school teacher and administrator
for 40 years, serving at Morral (Ridgedale) from 1945-56,
Prospect/Elgin from 1956-73 and Delaware County/Buckeye Valley from 1973-1985.  He was a 43-year resident of Prospect and a member of St. Paul's
Lutneran Church where he was treasurer for 20 years and was currently a
Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Prospect Lion's Club, where
he attained the status of a Melvin Jones Fellow, was treasurer of the Marion
County Retired Teachers Association and was a member of the Prospect Village
Zoning Board.
He was born April 24, 1924 in Jefferson County to the late A.O. and Margaret
Lemmon McFarlan and was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Roush
He is survived by his wife, Bettylou Wiener McFarlan whom he married
June 4, 19^0; a son, Douglas R. (Norma) McFarlan of Springfield 111 • a
daughter. Shannon (Cecil) Puckett of Prospect; four granddaughters 'Emily
McFarlan and Annie McFarlan of Springfield, III., and Ashley Puckett and
Alana Puckett of Prospect; and a sister, Mary Margaret Smith of Cadiz
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church. The Rev. Stephen S. Bull will officiate and burial will be at the
Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, at the
Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect.
Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at the church
Cards will be available at the funeral home.
