Freda Annabelle Jones
Freda Annabelle Jones, 78, of Prospect died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at
Mount Carmel West Hospital.
She was a retired registered nurse and had worked at Grady Memoriai'Hospital
and Marion General Hospital and with the Red Cross bloodmobile. She
was a 1939 graduate of Pleasant High School and graduated from the White
Cross School of Nursing. She was a longtime active member of Radnor United
Church of Christ, the Lyda Jones Circle and Buckeye Valley Band and
Athletic Boosters. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and Meals on
Wheels in Delaware and served on the Delaware County Mental Health
Board and the Radnor Township election board.
She was bom July 4, 1921, in Delaware County to the late Albert C. and
Anna C. Harris Augenstein and was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Jones whom she married Aug.
7, 1948, in Marion; two daughters and Ann Jones of Worthington, Carol
(Bill) Lathrop of Prospect; a son, Mark W. (Penny) Jones of Worthington;
two granddaughters, Bryn and Darcy Lathrop; a grandson, Parker W. Jones;
a sister, Martha Dasher of Morral; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Radnor Cemetery.
The Revs. Bob and Lynn Blevins will officiate and friends may call
from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Gehm-Ballinger Funeral Home in Prospect.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Radnor
United Church of Christ; Delaware County Red Cross; or Carnegie Public
Library of Prospect in care of the funeral home.
