Marianne Roberts
Marianne RobertsMarianne Roberts, 71, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her Richwood residence.  The daughter of the late George and Alice Scott Hunt was born May 27, 1930, in Columbus.  Her first husband Lester Foreman, died in 1957. On April 5, 1962, she married Knute Roberts, who survives. The community activist was a member and treasurer of the Richwood First Baptist Church. She served on the North Union Local School Board for 16 years and earned the Award of Merit 1980-1995. She was a former Tri-Rivers Career Center Board member and past member of the Union County MR/DD Board, Ohio School Board Association, OSBA 1991 All Region Board, All Ohio School Board, and was named in Who's Who of American Women in 1995 and 1996. She was a Past Matron of Mt. Carmel Chapter #42 OES, Hospice volunteer and former member of OCCL, American Legion Auxiliary and Richwood Emergency Squad, The talented vocalist performed at numerous weddings throughout the area. She organized The Performing Richwood Serenaders and sang with the Kay Kyser Big Band in Columbus as sophomore in high school. She won the Eastern U.S. Division Horace Heit Talent Review and both friends and relatives have sampled her well-known potato soup.  Surviving are her husband Knute of Richwood; three daughters, Georgia (John) Masselli of Margate, FL., Alyce (Mike) Heminger of Richwood and Ruthie (Greg) McCloud of Prospect; two sons, Scott Foreman and Charlie (Cindy) Roberts of Richwood; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jeff Foreman.  The Rev. Barb Stevens was in charge of Memorial Services held Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Ballinger Funeral Home. As per her long-standing wish, Mrs. Roberts' body has been donated to the Ohio State University Medical School for anatomical study.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood First Baptist Church Memorial Fund or Northern Union County Emergency Squad.
