RICHWOOD — Catherine McElroy, 86, formerly 16 George St., died Wednesday April 9, 1990 in Arcadia, Fla.
She was born Dec. 13, 1903, in Raymond, a daughter of Andrew and Ersy Wood Thompson. The homemaker was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church, York Center. Her husband, Merle J. McElroy, whom she married Sept. 9, 1922, died Jan. 2, 1972. Mrs. McElroy is survived by five sons, Harold E. and Merle J. McElroy, Richwood, Jack E. McElroy, Marengo, Lowell L. McElroy, Arcadia, Fla., and Thomas M. McElroy, Sebring, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Junior (Betty) Moore, Prospect, Mrs. James (Phylis) Stalder, Hanoverton, and Mrs. Eugene (Isabell) Cheney, Upper Sandusky; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A brother, a sister and three grandchildren are deceased. The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at McKendree United Methodist Church, York Center, with the Rev. Janet Overly officiating. Burial will be in York Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim McElroy, Richard Moore, Tom Leek, Scott McElroy, Daren Cheney, Jack McElroy Jr. and Christopher McElroy. Honorary pallbearers are Mark and Mathew McElroy. Friends may call at Stofcheck Funeral Home 2-9 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the building funds of McKendree UM Church or Arcadia Methodist Church.
