Adam E. "Bud" Shuman
Richwood- Mayor Adam E. "Bud" Shuman, 67, died Wednesday evening May 22, 1991 at Marion General Hospital after a seven-month illness.
The Urbana native was bom July 20, 1923, a son of the late Adam and Lelah Harrirnan Shuman.
He retired in 1981 from employment with the Veternas Administration i in Washington D.C., after 40 years of service as procurement officer in the department of surgery and medicine in areas of planning and contraction. Mr. Shuman was a World War JJ U.S. Army veteran, a former prisoner of war and recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Richwood Lions, Elks Lodge 132, Bellefontaine, Rich- I wood Golf League, American Association of Retired Persons and Richwood Civic Center, of which he was a former / board member.      
He also was instrumental in organ-izing the REAP program.
Mr. Shuman was a life member of Richwood American Legion Baccarat j Post,40 and VFW Post 870, Disabled Veterans Union County Post 55 and American Ex-POWs.
• His first wife, the former Ruth Smith, died in "1983." He married Melva N.  Patrick Jan. 21,1984, in Bellefontaine, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Shuman, Muskogee, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Anne) Broadhurst, Laurel, Md.; a stepson, Spencer Jordan,
Richwood; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Constance Hill, Saline, Mich.; a brother, Edwin Shuman, Seminole, Fla,; two sisters, Mrs. Nelson (Mary Florence) Blue, Richwood, and Mrs. Ivan (Patricia) Kunkleman, Troy; and five grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stofcheck Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Gage officiating. Burial with graveside rites.by American Legion Post 40 and VFW Post 870 will be in Price Cemetery.  
Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rich-wood Civic Center.
