RICHWOOD — Robert E. Evans Sr., 91, Marion, died Thursday March 28, 1996 at Marion Manor Nursing Home.
Born March 14,1905, in Marion, he was the son of the late Dan -S. and Amelia (Wein) Evans. On Nov. 12, 1927, in Forest, he married Hazel T. Simpson. She died July 5,1969. He retired as the assistant superintendent of the mails, from the United States Postal Service, Marion, in 1968, after 43 years ser vice. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Marion, where he had served as treasurer, and had been active in the Boy Scouts. He is survived by a son, Robert E. Evans, Richwood; a daughter, Mrs. Verl (June) Stevenson, Galion; eight grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry L., four brothers, William, Harry, James and Marvin, a sister, Iva Mae Fies and a granddaughter. The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matt Terry officiating. Burial is in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements are being handled by - Stofcheck Funeral Home, Richwood. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 248 Olney Ave., Marion, 43302. Pall bearers will be Jeff and Mark Evans, Scott and Todd Hoffman, Bruce Rush and Matt Stevenson.
