Alonzo Marshall Burdge
PORTLAND, Ore.- Alonzo Marshal] Burdge, 87, 7225 S.W. 13th Ave., died Tuesday April 30, 1996 at his home.
Born Jan. 7, 1909, in LaRue, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Maggie (Harris) Burdge.
On Dec. 25, 1932, he married Mariam Prentice, and she survives.
He was a 1927 graduate of LaRue High School, veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, member of F&AM, and of the Methodist faith. He taught vocational agriculture at Margaretta High School, Castalia, Ohio, until 1936, and he worked for the Ohio Farm Bureau Corp. from 1936-1941. From 1941-1974, he was an  agent with the Ohio Farm Bureau Insurance Co., eventually becoming vice president and regional manager of the western United States. He was listed in 'Who's Who of the West in 1973.
He is also survived by two sons, Rabel J. Burdge, Champaign, 111, Myron A. Burdge, Murrells Inlet. S.C.; a sister, Mildred L. Wenig, LaRue; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters and a sister.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Stofcheck Funeral Home, LaRue, Ohio, with the Rev. Joanne A. Powers officiating. Burial is in LaRue Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Phillippi-Clement Post 101 American Legion, LaRue.
