Paul R. Oberdier
Paul R.Oberdier,74,of Richwood diedThursday,Dec. 5, 1996, at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was a farmer and a pipe fitter for Fire Protection and Sprinkler Associates in Marion. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 503rd Ordnance Company and was part of the Normandy invasion from the sixth day. He was a member of the Claiboume United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday School superintendent and served as a trustee and on the membership and evangelism committees. He was also a member of VFW Post 870 and American Legion Baccarat Post 40 of Richwood, Pipe Fitters Local 669 and the former Claiboume and York Granges.
He was born April 11,1922, in Richwood to the late John Wesley and Eva Mae Williams Oberdier.
He married Carol M. Ridge on April 20, 1943j at the Ridge home on Harmon-Patrick Road and she survives. He is also survived by children, John Paul (Sue) Oberdier of Gurnee; 111., Melisa Mae (Dan) Grose of Richwood and Karen Lou (David) Cramer of Dayton; grandchildren, Eva Marie Oberdier of Japan, Nathan John Oberdier of Germany, Andrew Caleb Oberdier of Gurnee and Dale Lee and Jeffrey David Cramer of Dayton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Claiboume United Methodist Church. The Revs. Dan Grose and Glenn Decker will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home.
Pall bearers will be Hugh Ridge, Dick Ridge, Ralph Ridge, Dale Cramer, Jeff Cramer, Andrew Oberdier and Nathan Oberdier.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Claiboume Methodist Church.
