Olidel Blue
Olidel Blue, 88, died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, at Memorial Hospital of Union County. Although she had been in failing health for a number of years, her death was unexpected.
She was a graduate of the Essex schools and Richwood High School and became an active business woman. The day after her high school graduation, she began an apprenticeship at Schnee's Beauty Shop in Marion and after her marriage, she owned an operated the Glendell Beauty Shop in her home on the family farm on Route 739. Later, she and her husband managed L&K Motels in Galion and Bellefontaine.
After her husband's death, she worked for L&K Enterprises as a home office representative. After her retirement in 1977, she became a senior citizen consultant for the Union County Counseling Service.
She was active in her church and its women's society, assuming various offices in both. She served on the Mental Health Board and the Farm Bureau Council, always supported the schools and never missed voting. She enjoyed the friendships of couples in a social group in the Essex area for many years.
She was born July 15, 1909, in Jackson Township, Union County, to the late Samuel S. and Laura Ann Matteson Robertson. She married Glenn Hall Blue March 25, 1929, and he died Aug. 18, 1973.        
She is survived by a son, Glenn (Charlotte) E. Blue of Soap Lake, Wash. two daughters, Charlene (Jesse L.) Conrad of Magnetic Springs and Rebecca (Loy) George of Richwood; nine grandchildren, Michael Blue, William (Christy) Blue and Kathleen B. (Dan) Hendrickson of Washington, Bradley (Jeanne) Conrad of Indiana, Thomas (Virve) George of University Heights, Richard (Danae) George, Kristi C. (Joel) Smith, Carl (Ronda) Conrad and Robert (Karen) Conrad of the local area; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Essex United Methodist Church. The Rev. Carmen Minarik officiated and burial was at the Essex Cemetery.
Pallbearers were the decedent's grandsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church at 32697 Route 37, Richwood, or the Richwood EMS Association at 101 S. Franklin St., Rich-wood.
