Walter C. Hamilton
Walter C. Hamilton 82, of Richwood died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at the Dayton VA Hospital.
He was the owner and operator of Hamilton's Auto Wrecking in Somersville and then Richwood for 55 years. He was a 1931 graduate of York Rural School, a Navy veteran of World War II and a 50-year member of VFW Post 870, Baccarat American Legion Post 40 and the Canadian Numismatic Association. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports card and coin collector.
He was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Somersville to the late John and Kenova Dull Hamilton and was predeceased by four brothers, John, Jim, Lloyd and Charles. He married Judy Case and she died March 6, 1993.
He is survived by five sons, Mike (Pat) Hamilton, Walter A. (Allison) Hamilton, Perry (Robin) Carter and Andy Carter of Richwood and Dennis (Linda) Hamilton of Marysville; three daughters, Patricia (Carl) Gamble of Forest, Sharon Auble of Cleveland and Terri Carter of Richwood; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Bob (Peg) Hamilton of Somersville; three sisters, Carrie (Bernard) Morris of West Mansfield, Betty (Bob) Richardson of Richwood and Mary Coder of Raymond; and three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hamilton and Abby Hamilton of Richwood and Phyliss Hamilton of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Fred Cheney will officiate and burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton VA Hospice Fund or North Union Baseball for Boys in care of the funeral home.
