LARUE — LARUE — Donald T. Virden, age 87, of 647 N. Section St., LaRue, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at 2:08 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, Ohio.
He was born April 18, 1911, in Montgomery Township, Marion County, Ohio, to the late Roy M. and Delia (Thew) Virden. On Oct. 25, 1936, he married Eva D. Phelps, and she died June 17, 1998. He is survived by one son, Rodger E. (Linda) Virden of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Norma (Walter) Green of LaRue; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. One sister, M. Evonda Kale, is deceased. Mr. Virden was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school and had served as Sunday school superintendent. He was a retired farmer and active in the National Farmers Organization. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30,1998, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, Ohio. Minister will be the Rev. Joanne A. Powers. Burial is in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
