Kenneth K. Evans
Kenneth K. Evans, 90, of Richwood died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Marion Manor Nursing Home.
A 1926 graduate of Radnor High School, he was a retired farmer and a past member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and the Logan/Union County Planning Commission. He was a member of the Prospect Masonic Lodge, Union County Soil Conservation and was on Gov. Rhodes Commission on Aid for the Aging. He was a former member of the Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and the Farm Bureau. He started the Union County Mobile Meals program and the Farmers Market in Union County.
He was the 1952 Ohio Farmer of the Year and was inducted into the Ohio State Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. He was very instrumental in the building of the Richwood Community Apartments, was a member of the Richwood Civic Center and a former member and president of the Richwood Civic Center Board of Trustees.
He was born Oct. 15, 1909, in Delaware County to the late Charles L. and Edith Mae Kyle Evans and was predeceased by a brother, Robert L. Evans. He married Esther Irene Gabriel Nov. 5, 1939, in Marietta and she died May 22, 1986.
He is survived by four daughters, Kay (David) Griffith of Broadway, Carolyn (Carl) Anderson of Alpena, Mich, Dianna (Joseph) Smith of Novato, Calif, and Mary Ann (Terry) Patton of Richwood; 12 grandchildren, Kim Butcher, Dale Griffith, Deanna Griffith, Beth Baker, Jeff Anderson, Daren Griffith, Karen Ogan, Amy Noble, Laurie Mueller, Julie Anderson, Kyle Griffith and Ashly Smith; 14 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dorothy Monroe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Civic Center, 235 Grove St., Richwood, or the First United Methodist Church adult handbell choir, 18 S. Fulton St, Richwood.
