NEW BLOOMINGTON — Carl Robert Schaber, age 93, of 623 Schmidt Road, New Bloomington, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000 at 9:40 a.m. at Alterra Sterling House of Marion.
He was born Oct. 23, 1906, in Marion County, to the late Frank and Emma (Schlecht) Schaber. On June 7, 1936, he married Alvena Hyacinth Tilton, and she died Aug. 28,1998. Also deceased are two brothers and four sisters. He farmed all his life, served nine years as a Big Island trustee, lifelong member of the New Bloomington United Methodist Church, treasurer of the Sunday school for 20 years, member of the New Bloomington school board, treasurer of the PTA, member of the Farm Bureau. He is survived by two sons, Buford L. (Barbara) Schaber of Marion, Philip C. (Marsha) Schaber of New Bloomington; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 22,2000, at 11 a.m. at the New Bloomington United Methodist Church. Minister will be the Rev. Darlene Weidner. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, Ohio, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday.. Those who wish may make contributions to the New Bloomington United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Chris Schaber, Bobby Schaber, Bruce Martin, Gary Steurer, Keith Hunt and Kevin Tobin.
