John James Popovich
John James Popovich, 55, of Richwood died unexpectedly Friday, Arpil 21, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Union County. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Marysville where he was active working with bingo and serving on the church council. He was a sheet metal journeyman and had worked for Columbus Heat and Ventilation for more than 20 years and had formerly worked at Westinghouse in Columbus. He was a 1962 graduate of Linden McKinley High School and had formerly served with the Richwood Emergency Squad and Stofcheck Ambulance Service. He was a former 4-H advisor, member of the Marysville M.O.R.K.S., Rich-wood Gun and Game Club, E.A.A. of Kenton and Marion Air Foils and had played in a country band called the Country Wheels.
He was born Sept. 10, 1944, in Columbus to the late James B. and Velma Caroline Sindelar Popovich and was predeceased by a brother, Thomas, and a sister, Caroline.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Louise Myer Popovich whom he married Aug. 8, 1964, at Our Lady of Lourdes; two sons, Keith J. Popovich of Marion and James A. Popovich of Hilliard; and two daughters Ann Marie Popovich of Richwood and Karen (Matt) Mohr of Marysville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes. The Rev. Barry Bentz will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood where a Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
Pall bearers will be Keith and James Popovich, Matt Mohr, Dick and Nick Hogan, Ed Erdy, Erick Thein, Greg Derouaux, Tom Compton and the deceased's two godsons, Robert Cordell and Day Myer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund, 1033 W. Fifth St., Marysville.
