Desmond D. Hecker
Desmond D. Hecker, 77, of Richwood died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at The
Gables at Green Pastures.
He was retired from American Malleable Casting after many years and was an
active member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and the
Richwood Civic Center. He attended school in Marion and graduated from
Magnetic Springs High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His
joys in life were fishing and his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Marion to the late Henry F. and Ruth Iams
Hecker and was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey and Billy Dale Hecker.
He is survived by his wife, Marcile Ballard Hecker whom he married May 11,
1947, in Delaware; a son, Steve (Lynne) Hecker of Marion; two daughters,
Shirley Hecker of Springfield and Carolyn (Tom) Marvin of Richwood; five
grandchildren, Chad Hecker, Michelle Hecker, Jeremy (Shanda) Hecker, Cody
Hecker and Cole (Nicole) Marvin; a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Marvin;
and three brothers, Vance Hecker of Texas, Burton (Juanita) Hecker of
Westerville and Kenneth (Dee) Hecker of Duncan Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stofcheck
Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate and burial
will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Pall bearers will be Chad, Jeremy and Cody Hecker, Don Ballard Josh Rich
and Sam Chapman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood First United Methodist
Church, 18 S. Fulton St., or the Richwood Emergency Squad Association, 101 S. Franklin St.
