Gerald Jolliff
Gerald Jolliff, 67, of Richwood died unexpectedly Thursday, April 26, 2001,
at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
A 1951 graduate of Magnetic Springs High School, he was a retired farmer
and attended the Fulton Creek Friends Church and the Richwood Gun and Game
Club, where he enjoyed trap shooting. He was a part owner of The Grumpy Old
Men harness horse stable and enjoyed spending time at the Richwood
racetrack with his friends and the horses. He was an avid reader,
especially of historic fiction, and spent many afternoons playing and
watching softball and baseball games in the area. His greatest love was his
family, especially his grandchildren.
He was born Dec. 12, 1933, in Byhalia to the late Elmer and Martha Helen
Atkinson Jolliff and was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Jolliff, and
three sisters, Juanita Battles, Virginia Croft and Jane Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Leila Sarver Jolliff whom he married Nov. 21,
1952, in Circleville; two sons, Steven (Sandra) Jolliff of Magnetic Springs
and William (Brenda) Jolliff of Newberg, Ore.; a daughter, Vicki (Dennis)
Hillman of Middleville, Mich.; 10 grandchildren, Jesse (Rachel) Hillman,
Andrew Hillman, Elizabeth Hillman, Matthew Hillman and Joanna Hillman,
James Jolliff, Douglas Jolliff, Jacob Jolliff, Rebecca Jolliff and Anna
Jolliff; a brother, Donald (Bernice) Jolliff of Marysville; and a sister,
Sharon (Joe) Robinson of Pinehurst, N.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Stofcheck Funeral
Home in Richwood. The Rev. Charles Fye will officiate and burial will be at
the Hopewell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The deceased's grandsons will be pall bearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Creek Friends Church
