Hazel Marie (Kirk) Reed of Urbana, formerly of the Richwood area died Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2001, at the Hearth and Home Assisted Living Center in Urbana.
She was born Jan. 15, 1907, in Delaware County to the late William Frederick and Maggie Edwards Kirk. A homemaker and farmwife, she was a member of the Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, former member of the Fulton Creek Friends Church and very supportive of missionary activities. On Nov. 28, 1925, in Prospect she married George Frederick Reed and he died Feb. 27, 1989. Survivors include a son, Howard Kirk (Patricia) Reed of Lancaster; three daughters, Gertrude Mae (Dr. Gilbert) Fremont of Greenville, S.C., Mary Elsie (Karl) Landon of Prospect and Charlotte Ann (Pastor Carl) Ogdon of Urbana; 22 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grand- cihldren. Preceding her in death were a daughter at birth, Alice Marie; two brothers, Frank and John Kirk; three sisters, Mary McMahan, Bertha Matlack and Mae Almendinger; a granddaughter; and great-grandson. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood with burial in the Shoup (Thompson Township) Cemetery. Pastors will be Carl Ogdon and Charles Fye. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Creek Friends Church.
