G. Nelson Blue
G. Nelson Blue, 83, of Richwood died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
He was a former mayor of Richwood where he served three terms. He was also former executive secretary of the former Richwood Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member and past president of the former Rich-wood Lions Club.
He was a graduate of Richwood High School and the IBM College in Endicott, N.Y. He was a real estate broker and certified apprasier with the Blue Agency in Richwood which he founded.
He was a member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church were he had served on various committees and taught a junior high class. He was a member and past master of the Mount Carmel Lodge #42 of the F. & A.M., Columbus Valley Scottish Rite, Alladin Temple Shrine and was a former Union County Shrine Club ambassador. He was also a past patron of the Mount Carmel chapter #40 of the O.E.S. He was born April 1, 1918, to the late Roy H. and Emma M. (Park) Blue. On Aug. 3, 1939, he married Mary Florence Shuman in Greenup, Ky. She survives.
Also surviving are four children: Sandra (Rev. Jim) Christy of Piqua; Richard (Mary) Blue of Florence, Ala.; Jim (Chris) Blue of Richwood and Nanette Blue of Columbus. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren and a sister-in-lawn, Clarice Blue of Dayton.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Blue.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood with the Rev. Joseph Rhea officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
There will be a Masonic service Sunday at 4:45 p.m.
Burial will be at the Price Cemetery.
