Daniel L. Dettra
Daniel L. Dettra, 76, of Richwood died Saturday, April 27 2002, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired in 1966 as a brakeman for the Erie Railroad. From 1960 to 1966 he and his wife owned and operated the Dettra Market in Essex and he worked until his retirement from Wasserbeck Electric was a member of the Essex United Methodist Church and Rich wood VFW Post 870, the Ohio Gun Collectors Association and the National Rifle Association and a 40-year member of the Essex Knights of Pythias. He was a founding member of the Richwood Gun and Game Club. He enjoyed collecting guns and coins and most of all enjoyed his best friend, his Weimaraner dog, Rosie.
He was born May 16, 1925, in Senecaville to the late John Ray and Mammie Murphy Dettra and was predeceased by three brothers, Edwin, Sam and David.
He is survived by his wife, Florence L. Pulver Dettra whom married March 16, 1950, in Sandoval, 111.; two sons, Danny, Det tra of LaRue and Don (Amy) Dettra of Prospect; a daughter, Ellen (Kyle) Kunst of Newtown, Conn.; seven grandchildren, K. Adam, Kane A. and Kara A. Kunst; Danielle L. and Charlene D. Dettra and Margaret and Matthew Dettra; two sisters, Daisy (Dave) Jolley of Canal Winchester and Joan Gant of Sarasville; an aunt, Ina Secrest of Senecaville; nieces, Lynn (Kirby) Clark of Marysville, Valarie White of Groveport and Trudy Dettra of Byesville; nephew, John David (Lisa) Jolley of Canal Winchestor ter; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at theT Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Danny GrosfP will officiate and burial will be at the Price Cemetery where veteran services will be conducted by the Richwood VFW. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
Pall bearers will be Daniel Jones, Dennis Crowe, Jerry Dettra, J.D. Jolley, Timothy Dettra, Paul Clay and Hollice Pulver.
Memorial contributions may be made to Richwood VFW Post 870 or the Richwood Gun and Game Club.
