Mildred Lucile Burdge Weist Beck Wenig
She "was a 1922 graduate of LaRue High School, attended Bliss College, Columbus, Marion County Normal in Marion and received a degree in elementary education at Bowling Green State Normal College in 1927 and received a life certificate in elementary education in 1931. She taught at Dudley Valley, the last year of the one-room school in Bowling Green Township, 1924-1925. Taught fourth grade in LaRue Consolidated Schools 1925-1927. In 1928, 1933, she taught in Marion City at Vernon Heights and Forest Lawn Elementary schools. She married in 1933 and could not teach because she was a married woman. In 1952, married women could teach so she returned to teaching and retired with 30 years of service in 1974. She was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, Mary Martha Circle, the Mary Lenox Chapter 98 Order of Eastern Star, Happy Tyme Club, LaRue Senior Citizens, Pythian Sisters 144, Marion County and State Retired Teachers Associations, the LaRue Euchre Club and was very proud to be the queen of the LaRue Sesquicentennial at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the LaRue United Methodist Church. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stof check Funeral Home in LaRue from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Eastern Star services will be conducted by the Mary Lenox Chapter 98 OES at 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make contributions to either the LaRue United Methodist Church, Loving Care Hospice of Union County, or the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Weist, Todd A. Weist, Mac Weist, Jon Weist, Jerry Weist and Ray Peters. Honorary pallbearers are Dwight Wenig, George Wenig, Henry Wenig, Ralph Wenig, Ed Mallett and Ron James.


LARUE — Mildred Lucile Burdge Weist Beck Wenig, age 96, of LaRue, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at 3:55 p.m. at 17925 Timber Lane in Marysville, the home of her daughter Rosalie Alltop where she was making her home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1906, in Bowling Green Township to the late James Vesey and Maggie May (Harris) Burdge. With the exception of going to college and vacationing in Canada and Flori-da, her entire life was spent in Marion County.
In 1933, she married Mac Weist and he died Aug. 16, 195S She married Harry W. Beck March 29,1957, and he died Jan. 8,1964. Then she married Clifton H. Wenig on Aug. 1,1983 and he died Sept. 17,1993.
She is survived by two sons, Philip F. (LeAnn) Weist of Green Bay, Wis., James S. (Diane) Weist of Warrenville, 111.; one daughter, Rosalie Mae (David K.) Alltop of Marysville; four stepsons, Henry Wenig of Canal Winchester, Dwight Wenig of LaRue, George Wenig of North Carolina and Ralph Wenig of New Bloomington; 10 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Nancy Weist, one son, John Jacob Weist, one brother, Alonzo Burdge and one
sister Avonell Barth.
