THELMA STIERHOFF BEENEY ELDRIDGE
Thelma Stierhoff Beeney Eldridge, 80, of Jelloway, formerly of the Richwood area, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Country Meadow Care Center in Belleville.
She was retired from the General Telephone Company in Marion after 20 years of service and during World War II had worked at the former Scioto Ordnance Plant in Marion for the war effort. She was a member of the Richwood First United Methodist Church and the Melloway United Methodist Church and had been active as a leader in the Richwood area with 4-H and Girls Scouts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and traveling to Florida and to antique engine shows with both of her husbands.
She was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Taylor Township, Union County, o the late Alfred and Matilda Kleiber Stierhoff and was predeceased by a brother, Edward Stierhoff; and a sister, Christine Burnside. She married Richard Beeney in 1939 and he died in 1971. She married Luther Eldridge in 1979 and he died in 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Tom) Frank of Norwalk and Peggy (Jeff) Strong of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Helen Eldridge of Richwood; three grandchildren, Jessi Frank of Norwalk, Reed (Jody) Strong of Waynesville and Peter Strong of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Lucille (Hurd) Cowgill of Richwood and Alice Courier of Raymond; a brother, Gerald Stierhoff of Bellefontaine; a step-granddaughter, Paula (Ron) Moccabee of Richwood; two step-great-grandchildren, Logan and Haylee; and numerous nieces and aephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Fair for 4-H programs; the Richwood Civic Center; or the Autism Research Institute in care of the funeral home.
