Harvey S. Tanner
Harvey S. Tanner, 79, of Richwood died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the Morey Center at Memorial Hospital of Union County after a short illness.
He was a veteran of the Army and was retired from the village of Richwood where he worked for 19 years. He was a lifetime member of Verne I. Mounts American Legion Post 368 in Prospect and the DAV in Columbus and a member of Richwood VFW Post 870. He was given a lifetime free pass to the Richwood Fair in appreciation of his many years of work maintaining the grounds. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting wood.
He was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Marion to the late Leroy and Eva Potts Tanner. He married Wilma Debolt Oct. 7, 1946, and she died May 8, 1999.
He is survived by three sons, Harvey Eugene Tanner of Tampa Fla., Gary (Mary) Tanner of Radnor and Jeff Tanner of Richwood; two daughters, Mary Ann Gibson of Tampa and Peg (Les) Music of, Richwood; 16 grandchildren, Kevin Wood, Tammy (Lacy) Monroe, Shannon Pacha, Lance Pacha, Shawn (Amy) Pacha, Renee (Brian) Yake, Jason Tanner, Ryan (Theresa) Tanner, Adam, Eric, John and Christopher Tanner, Harvey Tanner Jr., Georganna Tanner, Robin Ann Williams and Samuel Allen Gibson; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen May of Richwood; three brothers, Clifford Tanner of Richwood, Richard Turner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Louis (Mary) Tanner of Richwood; and close family friends, Tim and Ty Holton and June Mann.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Claibourne Cemetery where Richwood VFW Post 870 will conduct veteran services. The Rev. Joseph Rhea will officiate. There will be no public calling hours. The Stofcheck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood Fair in care >f the funeral home.
