Joseph R. Lewis, 85, of Richwood died Wednesday, July 10,2002, at Memorial Hospital of Union County.
He was a former member of the National Rifle Association and the Mid-State CB Radio Club. He was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Richwood to the late John L. and Irene Kinikin Lewis and was predeceased by a sister, Axile Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn E. Titus Lewis whom he married Sept. 8, 1947; a son, Duane R. Lewis of Richwood; a grand daughter, Gina (Chris) Selover of Marysville; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Joel and Faith Selover; a brother, John E. Lewis of Richwood; and a sister, Imogene Sehnert of Carbondale, 111. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Steve Wood will officiate and burial will be at the Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Union County Fire and EMS Association.
