Lt. Colonel Edwin H. Shuman
Lt. Colonel Edwin H. Shuman (retired), 86, of Gahanna and  of Richwood and Seminole, Fla., died early Sunday morning,
Aug. 18, 2002, at Traditions on Stygler Road in Gahanna.      
He was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Upper Sandusky to the late Adam and Leah Harriman Shuman.
He taught high school and was an administrator in Ohio and Floida a, then was retired from the Air Force after 28 years of serviced.
He was a member of the VFW Post 4256 in Maderia Beach, Fla., the Varsity 'O' Alumni and several military organizations; past Vfw tate commander in Florida, 1984-85; a life member of the organi-ation of the Cooties through the VFW; and past president and mem-per of the AARP.
On Sept. 9, 1967, at Fort Walton Beach, Fla., he married Arlene luth Pierce, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Geoffrey Ray (Patricia) Shuman of Columbus, Robert James (Martha) Dillion of Pataskala, Tommie Donald) Zacharias of Mississippi and Kay (Phil) Karsell of Min esota; sisters, Mary Florence Blue of Richwood and Pat Kunkleman of Troy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were sons, Kenneth Edwin Shuman and Richard E. Dillion; daughter, Mary Frances DeCosier; and brothers, Max, Adam and Mike Shuman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service which will be conducted the Rev. James. Christy. Veteran services will be conducted at the funeral home fol lowing the funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date.  
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood VFW Post 870, 9 W. Blagrove St., Richwood, Ohio 43344.
