Paul Hoch Schaber

NEW BLOOMINGTON — Paul Hoch Schaber, age 79, of 7645 LaRue-DeCliff Road, New Bloomington, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at 1:40 a.m. at Community Health Care Center in Marion.
He was born April 18,1923, in Agosta, to the late Noah David and Rae (Hoch) Schaber.
On April 1, 1945, he married Phyllis White and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Frederick Lee Schaber, at home; three daughters, Loretta M. (Joe) Murphy of Marion, Eleanor J. Smith of Caledonia and Teresa K. (Robert) Eding-field of Xenia; five grandchildren, Joshua Alexander, Shelly Caskey, Rodney Caskey, Kristen Edingfield and Jessica Eding-field; two brothers, Howard Leroy (Betty) Schaber of Marion and Wayne D. (Carol) Schaber of Summerville, S.C.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Jason Alexander and a great-grandchild, Melinda Alexander.]
Mr. Schaber was a retired farmer, was a leader in no till farming in Marion County, won second place in the state contour plowing contest, member of the Marion County Farm Bureau where he was public affairs chairman. He was director for three terms of the Federal Land Bank in Marion and director of the National Federal Land Bank Fourth District at Colorado Springs, Colo. He was also on the Landmark board. He tiled farms for 15 years. His company card reads expertise farm drainage with the motto "All things should be done decently and in order." He was a member of the Huber Association, an avid listener to Charlie Evers where he reported the rainfall for many years, member of the New Bloomington United Methodist Church, lay leader, Sunday school superintendent, church choir and on the church board of trustees.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be the Rev. Donald J. Riker. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Those who wish may make contributions to the New Bloomington United Methodist Church.
