Melvin George Darland

LARUE — Melvin George Darland, 63, of near LaRue, died Friday evening, April 11, 2003, at the St. Rita's Hospital in Lima.
He was born March 24,1940, in Gordon, Ohio, to the late James and Conalee (Clem) Darland.
Melvin was a retired truck driver, having worked for the Sager Farms in LaRue and Warehouse Express in Kenton. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion and the Kenton Moose Lodge 428.
On May 14, 1976, in Marion, he married the former Carol Thomas, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Don (Kelly) King and Terry (Karla) King, both of New Bloomington; six daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Jones of Kentucky, Michelle (Kevin) Riley of Sidney, Melinda (Grant) Paff of Troy, Pamela Cornett (John Clawson) of LaRue, Cathy (Matthew) Waterer of New Bloomington and ■ Phyllis (Charles) Hamm of New Bloomington; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Also, two brothers, Jerry Darland Jr. of Covington, and Eugene (Mary) Darland of Rock Island, Tenn.
Predeceased by stepfather, Bernard Clark, and daughter, Angela Darland.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15,2003, at 2 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, where friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Minister will be the Rev. Thomas H. Knauff. Burial will be in the LaRue Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
