NEW BLOOMINGTON — Earl Willard Johnson, age 83, of 8359 LaRue-Prospect Road, New Bloomington, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at 9:57 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.
He was born March 14,1920, in Marion, Ohio, to the late John and Hazel (Houser) Johnson.
On Dec. 17,1945, he married Alma S. Lindgren and she died March 19,1997.
Mr. Johnson, with his brother Gordon, owned and operated Johnson Brothers Grocery on Davids Street in Marion for 20 years. He ran a milling machine at Marion Power Shovel, then was a correctional officer at MCI and was a part-time meat cutter at Willie Haberman's Grocery in LaRue. He was a member of the LaRue Lodge 463 F & AM and the Verne I. Mounts Post 368 American Legion in Prospect.
He is survived by one son, Erik E. (Cheryl) Johnson of LaRue; two grandchildren, Jason M. (Tiffany) Johnson of Marion, and Amber L. Johnson of Toledo; and one sister, Mayme Anspaugh of Marion. Two brothers, John and Gordon Johnson, and one sister, Florence Johnson, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue. Minister will be Pastor Allan R. Miller. Burial in the Frame Cemetery, Meeker. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. There will be military rites at the cemetery.
Those who wish may made contributions to the American Cancer Society Marion Unit in care of the funeral home.
